2. ABU Robocon, Tokyo Japan
Robots of tomorrow are expected to play an active role in the “real world” inhabited by objects with uncertainty, rather than in the standardized and controlled environments of manufacturing lines. When robots work with entities from the natural world such as people, animals, plants, or minerals, they cannot possibly function effectively if they are designed under the same assumptions of precision found in industrial products. For this year, we encourage designing and building robots that accommodate for this uncertainty and variability.
